A family of initiatives promoting women’s empowerment

As part of International Women’s Month 2024 Athena40 hosted the ‘Women’s Interventions for a Sustainable Future’ Awards in partnership with the London Press Club, KNOCK Inc. and the City of London under the auspices of the Lady Mayoress Elisabeth Mainelli, and with the support of ROKH Global. The evening showcased the extraordinary accomplishments of seven remarkable women across various categories, honouring their commitment to driving positive change and inspiring others to follow in their footsteps. The winners are:

  • Nurdeniz Tüncer as Change Visionary for her work to support the rights of people with disability in Turkey
  • Lynne Parker as Leader of Positive Impact for Funny Women
  • The Sustainability Ambassador award was presented to Eleni Skarveli for the initiative Sustainable Greece
  • Sarah Mintey MBE was celebrated as a Pioneer in Tech and Innovation
  • Geraldine Sharpe-Newton was acknowledged as Promoter of Understanding Between Cultures
  • The charity Media Matters for Women, operating in Sierra Leone, was recognised as an Advocate for the Rights of Women;
  • London-based Iranian artist and activist Anahita Rezvani-Rad won in the category Artist whose work Re-Imagines our Societies.

From grassroots activism to corporate boardrooms, women are at the forefront, advocating for sustainable practices and spearheading transformative change. “As we look forward, let’s carry the inspiration from this evening into our daily lives and let us continue to strive to make a difference in the world around us. I remain utterly grateful to all our friends and supporters. Together we can -and we will- foster a more sustainable world!” said Elizabeth H. Filippouli, Founder & CEO of Athena40. In March 2019 the first ‘Athena40-Global Conversation’ was launched, in order to connect women from around the world in a synchronous conversation to help them discuss trends, change and also amplify their messaging internationally. The Athena40 panels are hosted in various cities around the world and go beyond traditional events to create impactful conversations and women-focused opportunities.
