One after another major cruise operators announce they resume sailings to Greece.

The country officially opens its tourism on May 14.

A number of cruise operators have already scheduled trips in Greece, assuring all necessary health and safety measures will be taken to protect both passengers and crew.

Most cruise operators will allow only vaccinated passengers on board. Some will accept  PCR tests taken 72 hours before arrival. Disembarking will be limited, for organized excursions only.

Here is a first look at what is available so far:

• Variety Cruises resumes trips on May 14 with the “Jewels of the Cyclades” sailing from Marina Zeas (Athens) to Polyaigos, Folegandros, Santorini, Paros, Mykonos, Syros and Kythnos.

• AIDA Cruises offers seven-day sailings in Greece from May 23. Cruise ships will depart from Corfu and stop in Crete, Rhodes, Katakolon (for Olympia) and the port of Piraeus.
• Silversea Cruises starts on June 18. It will offer 10 days round-trips from Piraeus to Syros, Paros, Patmos, Rhodes, Limassol, Heraklion and Mykonos.

• Celebrity Cruises premieres its “Celebrity Apex” ship on June 19. The seven-day trips will depart from Athens, stop in Mykonos, Rhodes, and Santorini in Greece and continue to Cyprus and Israel.

• Seabourn will start sailing on July 3 offering two different routes: from Piraeus to Agios Nikolaos, Rhodes, Mykonos and Nafplion and later to Cyprus and from Piraeus to Patmos, Rhodes, Thira and Spetsai and later to Cyprus.

• Royal Caribbean International’s “Jewel of the Seas” will sail from Limassol to Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Chania (Crete) and Rhodes, on July 10.

• Norwegian Cruise Lines will offer seven-day trips around the Greek Isles in late July.
